## Summary

A private checklist for deciding whether a mix is ready for mastering, needs more work, or should be discussed before booking.

## Content

The Mix Readiness Checker is a no-upload decision aid. It helps an artist judge whether to send the mix, fix a clear technical or musical issue first, or ask El Stray Mastering for a direct opinion.

### Readiness checks

- The mix balance feels intentional from start to finish.
- The vocal or main musical focus sits where it should.
- The low end feels controlled on more than one playback system.
- The mix is not clipping the stereo output.
- References have been chosen for direction rather than copied blindly.
- The arrangement, edits, fades, and silence are deliberate.
- Any stems or alternate versions are clearly labelled.
- The artist can explain what they want the master to protect or improve.

### Warning signs

- The mix still changes every time it is opened.
- The vocal, kick, bass, or harshness feels unresolved.
- The stereo output is clipped or heavily limited by accident.
- The reference track is being used as a fixed loudness target.
- The release format is unclear, especially for vinyl or club use.

### Next steps

- Send the mix when most checks pass and no warning signs apply.
- Ask before booking if the right service is unclear.
- Fix the mix first if a core warning sign applies.
